Unless you are already a fan of this type of game, there is not much to enjoy here.
there is a good amount of content and depth here for those who can stomach the rest of the garbage (although why would you?).īut ultimately, it's just too much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with and it's just not worth it to squeeze a tiny bit of enjoyment through the annoyance and tedium. the actual movement feels fluid and snappy (although it has no slow movement option and instead jerks the entire game in slow-motion). the visual effects are nice (if they were toned down and not so distracting). Apparently the devs didn't get the memo that this isn't 1990 anymore and we don't use the start button as confirmation in menus.
Includes difficulty/lives sliders, but it's basically just "assumed" that you don't actually change these at all, because it disables achievements/leaderboards and anyone talking about completing a standard run or 1CC is under the assumption of default settings, so just really makes you wonder what the point is. No information given at all on mechanics or scoring (would be especially useful considering how there is like 10 different modes). Game has horrible screen tearing even on a freesync monitor, requiring you to enable V-Sync in the ini file (this adds a frame of input lag, capping to 57.5 in RTSS fixes tearing and doesn't add an additional frame of input lag). Bosses are generic anime girl spaceships who just spam dense bullet patterns. All environments are just scrolling static backgrounds. #How long beat dodonpachi resurrection trial
Tons of annoying bullet patterns like dense fast-moving cluster or rotating laser patterns, where it's just annoying trial and error as you are forced to bomb/die if you are in the wrong spot because you can't move in time.massive hordes of score tokens, huge streams of your own bullets, and explosions constantly fill the screen which gives poor visual clarity in a game where the entire point is to dodge bullets. Lacks basic features like slow movement (oh, but don't worry, we'll make the whole game grind to a halt and you can dodge bullets that way!!).the whole thing is just really jarring and annoying I really don't get why anyone would like this at all, or why there isn't an option to disable it like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ original PSX game had

this is a """feature""" of the game by the way, because mimicking the slowdown of garbage hardware and jerking between full speed and slow motion in an instant is really fun. Tons of slightly different game modes, none of which are explained at all.
